In Russia and St. Petersburg there is an increasing public demand on knowledge about creative ways of making the city environment more friendly, attractive, and inspiring. More professionals and citizens become aware of the fact that creative environment and creative communities significantly impact urban economic development and improvement of social and cultural life. Different groups of experts and dwellers wish to discover techniques and possibilities of scaling up creativity in the city.
The locations will be selected predominantly in peripheral districts of St. Petersburg characteristic of uniformity of housing and dullness of life. Before each event sociologists and urbanists will investigate the peculiarities of the territory and ask citizens about their everyday life and visions of the area. A local stakeholder, for example, a creative space or a library, will take part in organization of each event and will be able to build it into a broader frame of activities to guarantee sustainability of the results.
